We are the High Point-Thomasville Chapter, a chartered unit of
the American National Red Cross. Offices in High Point serve a
jurisdiction that includes the cities of High Point, Thomasville,
Jamestown, Archdale and Trinity. A service delivery branch office
operates to provide services in Lexington and to the rest of Davidson
County. Originally, separate chapters were created in 1917 for High Point, Thomasville and Lexington. In 1971, the High Point and Thomasville Chapters merged to form one unit. In 2008, the Lexington-Davidson Chapter voted to give up its status as an independent chapter and join forces with the High Point-Thomasville Chapter. The Lexington office continues to operate, but now under the administration of the High Point office. The chapter is governed by a Board of Directors in High Point and an Advisory Council in Lexington - made up entirely of volunteers. Mr. Doug Burrow of Wayne Trademark, Inc. serves as chairman of the board. Joyce Rector of the Lexington Housing Authority serves as chairman of the advisory council. A paid staff of 11, led by Executive Director Robert Ziegler, carries out the day-to-day operations of the chapter, supported by a dedicated group of trained volunteers who are counted on to delivery our menu of services to those who need us in times of emergency. |
